Happy Groundhog Day

Wednesday, February 2, 2011

Today we learned all about groundhogs, and their day! We learned that although eastern Canada is in the middle of a huge blizzard, we are in for an early spring. I must admit I felt somewhat guilty and a little spoiled as the kids and I watched the news broadcast of the groundhog ceremony - you could barely see the reporter for the snow. They even had to move the celebration in doors. All we could see as we looked out the window was sunshine, blue skies, and green grass. I love living here. We also learned that groundhogs and woodchucks are different names for the same animal (did not know that!)

So how much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? About 318 kilograms - 699.6 pounds.
Thats a lot of wood!

Oh, yes! And have you ever seen the movie Groundhog Day? Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania - real place. Gobblers Knob - real as well. And Punxsutawney Phil - you betcha - real! Who knew.

Purging

I have almost finished cleaning out our bedroom. It was seriously out of control. Not disgusting or messy. The piles where neatly stacked, but none-the-less they were there, all with the kinds of things that you would normally put in a basement. Since I don't have that option, my bedroom closet became the only other place. It makes me look like some kind of hoarder or something. I really am the biggest purger ever. I now have a couple of bags on their way to the garbage, bags and bags to give away, and only a few things left for the attic. I also went through my clothes and filled 2 big garbage bags with things I keep because someday I just might wear it again. That day will probably never come and I have to simplify my life - starting with my room.

a real boy

While cleaning out my bedroom I came across these old frames, and I thought I might as well repurpose them with this quote I have wanted to put in the boys room. I could not decide which one to use, so I used both. If you have an opinion - please share!

Pretty cute for free.
