from 1 blade to another

Fencing ended last week for the summer. Some weeks I felt like I actually knew what I was doing and other weeks I felt really off, but I always learned something and I let the times that I didn't perform so well inspire me on to do better the next week. I loved it though and I will continue on with it in the fall.
My friend Rachel and I have been talking about learning to row for a long time, so with fencing ended and rowing beginning the very next week, I signed up and we had our first class tonight. I couldn't have loved it more! I didn't know what I was doing or how to do it, but it was so peaceful and relaxing. I loved, loved, loved every minute of it and I did not want to go back in to shore. The very best part of all is getting to experience it with Rachel! We are peas from the same pod! Thanks Rach. Coming home to a nice warm house was pretty pleasant too! (the ocean is still down right COLD in June)
If the weather is nice Darren and the kids will come down to the beach on Saturday and take some pictures for me to post later.

bed head

This is the first face I ALWAYS see in the morning. As soon as he wakes up he comes in to say good morning! Today when he came in he said, "Mom, I look like a hedgehog!"
I opened my eyes and smiled when I saw him and said, "Yes you do!" This kid has the greatest hair. He even makes bed head cool.
Kevin Schmidt, you would be proud!

Today.....

....I should have done the laundry. I should have done the dishes. I should have vacuumed the floors. I should have done some end of the year school reports. I should have been finishing the master bathroom. Instead I painted the front door. It is not drastically different. Actually I wondered if Darren would even notice. He did. And he loves it. In fact he said that he likes it much better than the previous color and that he never really liked that color to begin with. He never told me that, and he never would have if it had remained. But since it changed, he felt he could. That is just the kind of guy he is!
Thank you Rachel for the color sample, and the kid watching while I went to go and buy the paint, and for the company while I sat on your front porch until Darren could come and jump start the van so I could get home to paint the door, just as the rain began to fall. But I painted anyways - and the sun came out and dried up all the paint and the itsy-bitsy front door was put back together again!
